“Las Majadas de Colchagua” is a spectacular hacienda in the style of an old Chilean country house, yet updated with the facilities that the modern traveler expects.
Plunge into traditions of Oenologial Tourism:
Winelosophy is the study of the culture of the countryside and wine experienced through the senses: It is being soaked by vine leaves; it is putting your feet in the earth , feeling it and getting your shoes dirty. It is breathing fresh air and watching a clear sky. It is the smell of freshly baked bread, made by hands of strong and loving working women. It is riding on horseback or climbing into a horse-pulled cart and allowing to be taken through the landscapes of our nature. It is filling your lungs with the aromas of wines and your palate with diverse fruits from our land. It is family , it is sharing with friends , it is pleasure , it is tradition , and it is romanticism. It is our belonging to the land ; it is the “Puro Chile”.

We wish to take this message to the consumers’ table so they may get nearer to us, so they may visit the Colchagua Valley and get to know our land , wines and warehouses to live an experience unique of our roots.

Nestled among poplar-lined country fields and rolling hills lies one of the most special places to stay in Chile, the Hacienda Los Lingues, one of the oldest and best-preserved haciendas in Chile.

To go deep into Hacienda Los Lingues is like being taken back in time. It is not only a typical big house of the Chilean countryside, but it is a living testimony of the colonial times. Everything remains as in those days…buildings are made of mud and straw, walls are painted in colonial red and when remodelling or restoration is needed, it is done with historians to preserve the original architecture.

Los Lingues also has a breeding stable of superior registered “Aculeo” horses, which is considered one of the best stables in America. It was founded in 1760 and its origins date back to Berber and Numidian horses in the north of Africa, which were brought to Spain by the Moors and finally brought to “the new world” by the Spanish conquistadors.

The floor of the stables is completely covered with handmade pink stones. Just a few steps away, in the traditional rodeo-ring it is possible to watch Huasos (Chilean cowboys) use harnesses and demonstrate their skills with young bulls and stallions.

At the end of the Sixteenth century, Don Melchor Jufré del Águila, settled in Santiago valley; he was an Extremaduran nobleman, son of a knight of the military order of Santiago who held the rank of major in 1599. As a successful writer and chronicler he won prestige in the Santiago’s society and was awarded by the King of Spain with the Estate of Angostura (Estancia de la Angostura) located in the central valley. Since then, Los Lingues has continuously belonged to the descendants and has managed to stay in the same family for more than four centuries.

Present owner of Los Lingues, Mr. Germán Claro Lira, has restored the estate, both its exterior and interior architecture and decor and presents them in the period of their primitive construction. Architects and historians have advised him on this task who have guided Claro`s purpose to respect those features that rural houses of the central valley had during the Hispanic colonial period and, at the same time, to be faithful to changes that they experienced as a result of Independence.

The basement, with thick walls made out of “cal y canto” (characteristic building material of that period, made mostly out of lime and egg white), is transformed in huge winter dining rooms that can hold hundreds of guests. In this place it is possible to taste some of the 150 varieties of Chilean wines that are stored in our wine cellars.

Since gastronomy is one of the main demands in any good hotel, in Hacienda Los Lingues we offer you the best of international, regional and Chilean cuisine. We emphasize produce from our own organic orchard, where you may pick the vegetables that you like the most and to confirm the freshnes of each one of them. The eggs and honey are also produced here, while fresh cheese from local producers in Los Lingues and bread made daily in the house with our own recipes add to the meals.

The four centuries of history of Hacienda Los Lingues are not in vain, since it is not only Chile’s oldest family business, but also the 20th oldest family business in the world and also an interesting story linked to wine producing. Thus, in a strategic alliance with Viña Los Vascos (Domaines Barons de Rothschild-Lafite) Hacienda Los Lingues launched a fine selection of Cabernet Sauvignon, Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Rose wines, all of them with their origin’s denomination. White stock wines are from the valley of Casablanca, while the ones of red stocks are from the valley of Rapel (Colchagua).

There are also interesting tours through the Wine Routes, Rapel Wine Route (Colchagua and Cachapoal valleys) and Curicó Valley; tour through El Teniente and Sewell mines. You may also enjoy sport activities, such as Golf and Catch & Release fishing (fly fishing). Inside the Hacienda, your may take the cultural tour, see horse exhibitions, enjoy horse rides, tennis, mountain bike rides or swimming pool.

Wine route tour
Wine Route Tour is a great option. Hacienda Los Lingues has an incredibly privileged location. It’s located right in the center of the main wine-producing zone of Chile in the VI region of Colchagua and Cachapoal. For this reason we have several options for you if you would like to visit vineyards and museums of the area.

Lapostolle, the family-owned producer of premium Chilean wine, celebrate the opening of its striking state-of-the-art gravity-fed Winery & Lapostolle Residence, dedicated solely to the production of its flagship wine Clos Apalta.

Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, of the Marnier-Lapostolle family, founded Casa Lapostolle in 1994. This family is best known for producing Grand Marnier and also owns the renowned Loire estate Chateau de Sancerre. Based in Apalta, Casa Lapostolle’s objective is simple—to create world-class wines using French expertise and the superb terroir of Chile. With exceptional reviews, awards and accolades for its wines being received from across the globe, Casa Lapostolle is fast becoming a byword for world-class Chilean wine.

The Casa Lapostolle Winery is located within the Apalta Valley vineyards (Santa Cruz, Colchagua, Chile), surrounded by a landscape that is magnificent and peaceful at the same time. One hundred and eighty hectares of surrounding vineyards, the residence is a paradise for wine lovers and people looking for superior lodging. Friendly hospitality defines the style of service and timeless, natural beauty the sense of place.

Since its launch in 1997, Casa Lapostolle’s Clos Apalta has been causing quite a stir. Produced in limited quantities from fruit grown in Casa Lapostolle’s Apalta vineyard, a region increasingly dubbed the ‘Pomerol’ of Chile, this premium cuvée, a blend of Merlot, Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, has won a number of international awards and accolades.

LODGING
The Colchagua Valley’s most luxurious and exclusive lodging option is one of the most special places to stay in Chile. Clos Apalta has four casitas or small individual units, nestled in on a hillside near their winery, and a guesthouse, which is more or less the main body of the winery area itself and offers less privacy. The guest rooms are elegantly appointed and modernist in decor, with lots of dark wood, white and ecru-colored fabrics, freshly cut flowers, plush bathrooms, and, in the case of the casitas, with wooden decks that afford truly magnificent, wide-open views of the Apalta Valley.

To get to the casitas, there are stairs or an electric “elevator.” Few hotels in Chile provide guests with more bucolic, peaceful surroundings, and there is an infinity pool, trails, and horseback riding, all included in the price. Also included are gourmet meals accompanied, of course, by a bottle of Clos Apalta’s extraordinary wine. My one and only caveat about the lodging here is that there does not seem to be one person in charge of the casitas, and therefore an attending staff (who speaks English!) can sometimes be hard to find.

Visits at the Clos Apalta Winery
On behalf of Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, we will be glad to host you in Clos Apalta Winery to show how our unique wine is made. Throughout our facilities you will see how gravity plays an important role to gently create our Clos Apalta wine. You will admire a wonderful setting in which wine industry blends perfectly with design.

The tour will take a bit more than an hour, and you will be introduced into the winemaking world; finishing with a tasting of Casa Lapostolle wines, which will be longing to be a part of your experience.
Participation, self-discovery, experiencing the cultural reality of a country, actively exploring its natural highlights these are new concepts for the needs of modern tourism. Since 1980, ALTUE ACTIVE TRAVEL has been Chile’s pioneer in the presentation of nontraditional programs designed for tourists whose instincts tell them to avoid impersonal, mass-market products at all costs. Our traditional specialties have been the emotion-filled adventure of running classic whitewater rapids on the wild Bio-Bio River, and serene voyages by sea kayak through primeval scenery in the sparkling Andean fjords of northern Patagonia.

Multiactivities from Santiago and surroundings
The entire Cordillera de Los Andes in central Chile has an extraordinary and impressive beauty that gives opportunities to hike, ride horses or go down Whitewater Rivers, overlooking this spectacular scenery through the Andean valleys.

A tasting wine trip into the Colchagua Valley
One of the most characteristic wine-producing areas in Chile is the Colchagua valley. Located some 100 miles (160 km) south of Santiago, it stretches from the Pan American Highway west towards the coast. These vineyards were established on Colchagua Valley’s coastal area, at the Jesuit Mission settlement of Pichilemu. This would mark the beginning of vitiviniculture in the Colchagua Valley.
