The restaurant in the Marixa Hotel won Spain’s prestigous Plato de Oro de la Gastronomía Española award in 1999 and has been gaining admires ever since. The cuisine is mastered by chef Marisa Sanchez while her husband Felix runs the wine cellar and manages the front of the house. Chef Sanchez won the National Prize for the best chef in Spain in 1987 and Echaurren won best Hotel Restaurant in Spain in 1982.
The Las Duelas restaurant offers a wide assortment of dishes ranging from Riojan cuisine, based on local recipes and products, to the most creative proposals, with a perfect balance between classicism and innovation. The actual building is a former convent constructed in the 13th century. Recently renovations have transformed the convent into a 4 star hotel.

Within the dusky darkness of the bodega, only wine from the best vintages can sit in vats and barrels made from French and American oak, acquiring the nuances from the wood, and heightening the primary characteristics of the wine itself. On reaching maturity, they are then bottled and remain in sleepers until perfection and rounding-off.
