The renovation of the Ygay Castle is at the core of the winery in the middle of the Ygay Estate. It was originally built in the 19th century by the founder of the winery, Luciano Francisco Ramon Murrieta, the first Marques de Murrieta, to function as his cellar for the elaboration and aging of his first Rioja wines.
In the best area of the D. O. Ca. Rioja, in a spectacular meander of the river Ebro , we find Finca Valpiedra, one of “The Great Single Estate Vineyards” of Spain. Finca Valpiedra is a new way of understanding Rioja wines. Our wines are modern, with some extraordinary characteristics, developed from a carefully selected fruit in the surrounding vineyards of the cellar.
Don Rafael fell in love with the region, especially the area around Haro, the mythical capital of the Rioja Alta region. He observed that there was a magical combination of soil and climate that would offer the perfect environment for producing wine that would eventually become world famous. Around 1877 he began the design and construction of the complex that is today known as the López de Heredia bodega (winery), the oldest in Haro and one of the first three bodegas in the Rioja region.
The April issue of the American magazine Wine & Spirits publishes a survey carried out among the best restaurants in the USA that places Muga first on the list of the most recognized wines by the American wine drinkers. Viña Lanciano is located in a breathtaking meander of the River Ebro. The vineyard occupies an area of 72 hectares, in which the climate, river and soil endow already exceptional grapes with a unique personality. Vines as old as 60 years are used to make our top-of-the-range wines: Viña Lanciano, Culmen and Lan Edición Limitada.
Bodegas Ysios, since its foundation, has become the flagship of the “New Rioja”, marking the style of the wines of the New Millennium. The bodega´s philosophy is characterised by the decision to only make Reserva wines and special coupages.
Following a great culinary tradition of the Basque Country, Victor Arguinzoniz, head chef and proprietor of Etxebarri, is renowned for his exceptional quality and freshness of ingredients which are further enhanced through cooking over an open fire.
