Constantia Uitsig now boasts award winning wines, three world-renowned restaurants, a private cricket oval, Spa and a 16-roomed luxury hotel. In 2006 fifty percent of the wine estate was bought by a consortium. Just 20 minutes from the heart of the city, Constantia Uitsig is truly Cape Town’s own Vineyard. The breathtaking rural beauty of a valley, where vineyard rows stretch up the mountainside, is unique in today’s overcrowded world.
Elegantly timeless, Buitenverwachting Restaurant is fortuitously positioned overlooking the Vineyards and the Constantiaberg Mountains. It has held the position as one of Cape Towns finest for many years. The award-winning Restaurant and Courtyard have been recently refurbished, where old and new come together - with views hard to beat.
The legendary wines of the Estate may be tasted and bought every day from 9am to 6pm. The cost includes 5 wines & international souvenir tasting glass, which bears the logo of the Estate. A shop, offering a selection of quality shirts, aprons and caps etc., is also located here. The entire estate is a national heritage and fully operational farm. Although care is taken to make your visit as enjoyable as possible, visitors enter the premises at their own risk. We reserve the right of admission.
The verdant Constantia valley, home to Klein Constantia Estate, is the oldest, most enduring vineyard region in the Cape, first producing wine in 1689. As part of the original vineyard that in the 18th century produced “Constantia”, prized throughout Europe by the leaders and aristocracy of the time, Klein Constantia has helped to reclaim its former glory by initiating the revival of this famous sweet wine. Klein Constantia was first to bring back Vin de Constance, using vines from the three-century-old plantings on the slopes behind Cape Town’s signature Table Mountain.
