Historic family-owned four-star Venice Hotel run by the same family since 1908, Hotel Saturnia & International is housed in 14th-century palace owned by the Pisani family, whose most illustrious member, Vettor Pisani (1324-1380) was the Admiral of the powerful fleet of the Republic of Venice during the wars with the Genoese for the control over the trading routes in the Mediterranean sea. The Hotel also houses the famous restaurant, La Caravella, which features fresh regional food and an extensive wine list.
Restaurant La Caravella, one of the most celebrated Venician restaurants, opened in the early sixties, when it took over from Ciro’s bar, at the time a very famous venue (it was even mentioned by Simone de Beauvoir in her books). The restaurant was well-known then, as it is today, for for its superb cuisine and excellent service, but also for the unique nautical style of its décor, designed by Luigi Orefice to recreate the interior of an ancient sailing ship. In summer the Caravella restaurant moves outdoors to the flower-filled Venetian inner courtyard.
The wine list features a selection of over 1500 labels, stored in two cellars, one of Italian wines, the other of French; the result of continuous research to discover the most interesting realities in the national and international wine world.

Also acknowledged for their Good Food having taken advantage of important chefs including the current resident chef Bruno Barbieri, under whose cuisine the restaurant has achieved 2 Michelin Stars and has been awarded 3 Forks by the Gambero Rosso Guide 2005. As for wine, Arquade has received the “Award of Excellence” from Wine Spectator magazine.
In 2006, 2007 and 2008, the restaurant has been awarded the Wine Spectator “Best Award of Excellence”. In Italy, only 5 other restaurants have received this level of acclaim. We are particularly proud of our Krug list, which is unique in Italy for the rarity of its items. There is a special Krug table in the wine-cellar dining room. We serve our wines exclusively in Riedel glasses, which have special meaning for us, i.e. we believe that every single aspect means a great deal.
