Lapostolle, the family-owned producer of premium Chilean wine, celebrate the opening of its striking state-of-the-art gravity-fed Winery & Lapostolle Residence, dedicated solely to the production of its flagship wine Clos Apalta.

Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, of the Marnier-Lapostolle family, founded Casa Lapostolle in 1994. This family is best known for producing Grand Marnier and also owns the renowned Loire estate Chateau de Sancerre. Based in Apalta, Casa Lapostolle’s objective is simple—to create world-class wines using French expertise and the superb terroir of Chile. With exceptional reviews, awards and accolades for its wines being received from across the globe, Casa Lapostolle is fast becoming a byword for world-class Chilean wine.

The Casa Lapostolle Winery is located within the Apalta Valley vineyards (Santa Cruz, Colchagua, Chile), surrounded by a landscape that is magnificent and peaceful at the same time. One hundred and eighty hectares of surrounding vineyards, the residence is a paradise for wine lovers and people looking for superior lodging. Friendly hospitality defines the style of service and timeless, natural beauty the sense of place.

Since its launch in 1997, Casa Lapostolle’s Clos Apalta has been causing quite a stir. Produced in limited quantities from fruit grown in Casa Lapostolle’s Apalta vineyard, a region increasingly dubbed the ‘Pomerol’ of Chile, this premium cuvée, a blend of Merlot, Carmenère and Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, has won a number of international awards and accolades.

LODGING
The Colchagua Valley’s most luxurious and exclusive lodging option is one of the most special places to stay in Chile. Clos Apalta has four casitas or small individual units, nestled in on a hillside near their winery, and a guesthouse, which is more or less the main body of the winery area itself and offers less privacy. The guest rooms are elegantly appointed and modernist in decor, with lots of dark wood, white and ecru-colored fabrics, freshly cut flowers, plush bathrooms, and, in the case of the casitas, with wooden decks that afford truly magnificent, wide-open views of the Apalta Valley.

To get to the casitas, there are stairs or an electric “elevator.” Few hotels in Chile provide guests with more bucolic, peaceful surroundings, and there is an infinity pool, trails, and horseback riding, all included in the price. Also included are gourmet meals accompanied, of course, by a bottle of Clos Apalta’s extraordinary wine. My one and only caveat about the lodging here is that there does not seem to be one person in charge of the casitas, and therefore an attending staff (who speaks English!) can sometimes be hard to find.

Visits at the Clos Apalta Winery
On behalf of Alexandra Marnier Lapostolle, we will be glad to host you in Clos Apalta Winery to show how our unique wine is made.  Throughout our facilities you will see how gravity plays an important role to gently create our Clos Apalta wine. You will admire a wonderful setting in which wine industry blends perfectly with design.

The tour will take a bit more than an hour, and you will be introduced into the winemaking world; finishing with a tasting of Casa Lapostolle wines, which will be longing to be a part of your experience.
