Valduero is a family winery and one of the first to be founded in Ribera del Duero, in 1984. By then, there only existed 5 or 6 wineries in the region, despite there being a long tradition of wine-growing within the DO zone. Credited among Spanish connoisseurs for its quality, Ribera Del Duero was a great unknown to the general public prior to Valduero’s involvement.
With the passage of time, Valduero steadily increased the volume and quality of production, reaching 200 hectares of vineyards of the Tinto Fino variety, also known as Tempranillo, Tinta del Pais or the primary grape of the Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reservas.
In order to strengthen and consolidate our future projects, in 2000 decided to build a new winery focused on maximizing our technical quality, while respecting the traditional methods of processing.
The winery was built by digging three tunnels under a mountain, devoted to treatment in stainless steel tanks, storage barrels and bottle. We currently have a total of 3,500 American oak barrels and one million bottles, the latter on hold until they have reached the ideal point of evolution.
Valduero currently exports to over 30 countries. As part of our policy towards the distributors, we support their activities with constant visits to target markets, conduct local promotional activities, tastings, exhibitions, participate in international competitions and above all, conduct winemaking tours at our facility. The results are an impressive collection of awards and medals attesting to Valduero as one of the most dynamic wineries in Ribera del Duero.
