The Las Duelas restaurant offers a wide assortment of dishes ranging from Riojan cuisine, based on local recipes and products, to the most creative proposals, with a perfect balance between classicism and innovation. Meals are also served in the impressive adjacent cloister of the centuries-old stone monastery, now converted into a hotel.
Located in the Hotel Los Agustinos, in the wine region of La Rioja, the Las Duelas restaurant was created with a clear, well-defined purpose: to fill the gap in modern cuisine in Haro and its environs. The restaurant provides two different settings. The interior space is functional, simple and welcoming, divided into two floors and decorated in wood, steel and stone. On the outside, we will be able to enjoy the historical cloister of the old monastery. This makes Las Duelas a solemn space, where you can enjoy its cuisine and excellent wine cellar. Las Duelas has a private dining room on the top floor. In addition to the main entrance from the hotel cloister, there is also direct exterior access.
Las Duelas restaurant has a splendid wine cellar to offer you its exceptional selection of wines under the best possible conditions, with over two hundred listings that include a wide range of Riojas as well as a good sampling of the most prestigious wines from the world’s designations of origin.
The Chef
Leading the kitchen is Juan Nales Rückauer, one of the most renowned figures in modern Riojan cuisine. After years of experience and training under great professionals, such as, among others, Luis Irízar and Pedro Subijana, he has embarked upon the pleasant task of providing his guests with top quality and professionalism. Always using the region’s typical products as a base, the Chef makes dishes with a clear regional reference adapted to today’s techniques. A clean, conceptually simple cuisine where the priority is well-defined, refined flavours.
The Maître d’Hôtel
Ismael Maimoun-Chekri Sánchez trained at the renowned Gamarra Hotel, Catering and Tourism School in Vitoria. There he earned his official specialist degree in hotel and catering. He completed his hotel and catering studies at the IES Camino de Santiago (Santo Domingo de la Calzada). This young man, born in Avilés (Asturias), has worked with Francis Paniego at the Echaurren Restaurant in Ezcaray, and more recently at the Dinastía Vivanco Museum of the Culture of Wine.
