This romantic restaurant popular with Spaniards from as far away as Barcelona is associated with the famous Hotel MarquÃs De Riscal,  and claims a greater following for its cuisine than the restaurant within the Hotel, which is known as much for the architechure designed by Frank O. Gehry as it is for the luxurious accommodations and fine food.

Echaurren’s recipes have been passed on from father to son to daughter over five generations, ending up in the capable hands of Marisa Sanchez. This allegiance to tradition, when combined with a respect for local products and wine, has led to a true international following.

The cuisine is mastered by chef Marisa Sanchez while her husband Felix runs the wine cellar and manages the front of the house. Chef Sanchez won the National Prize for the best chef in Spain in 1987 and Echaurren won best Hotel Restaurant in Spain in 1982.

The wine cellar has more than 300 wineries offerings from the Rioja region.
