Cune is the winery where the company began in 1879 between the cities of Logorno and Laguardia. Today CVNE it still sits on the original site, in the wine district’s “Barrio de la Estacion”, in Haro. The current building is designed by French architect Philippe Mazières and is built with all of the materials used in the wine making process including from red cedar from Canada to concrete and stainless steel. The name CVNE stems from “Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España“, and is represented by the following wines Cune, Imperial, Real de Asúa, Monopole and Corona.

CVNE grows half of the grapes it needs to produce its wine and buys the rest under contract with Rioja’s best growers. A great terroir for great wines. In Villaba, CVNE has vineyards that are over 40 years old and whose grapes are used to produce the Real de Asúa, produced only when the harvest has been excellent.

The Haro winery comprises a collection of structures and cellars, most dating from the 19th century, arranged around a central patio. Above the cellars are the wine making, bottling and shipping facilities, conserved to this day.

At Cune, the wine making process continues with the same dedication and care as it started in the company’s early days. And care is taken from start to finish, from the grape on the vine to the wine in its bottle.

Real de Asúa cellar, a winery inside another winery
The Real de Asua cellar is an independent winery inside the original historic quarters of Cune. This cellar allows for a fully traditional wine making process subject to the strictest quality controls.
