Casa do Visconde de Chanceleiros is a quaint, 10-room bed-and-breakfast built in the 18th-century as a manor house located three miles outside of the town of Pinhão. Chanceleiros is a small town famous for its wonderfully tiled train station. Driving through the slopes of the Douro Valley,you arrive in the small village of Chanceleiros and now you are really in rural Portugal.

The manor house in Chanceleiros was built as a summer residence in the early 18th century and has been tastefully rebuilt from ruins by its present owners. Today the luxurious surroundings combine Portuguese culture and architecture with international comfort.As you enter the manor house, one is greeted by two figures either side of the entrance hall way. Traditionaly these figures were displayed in wealthy households to welcome visitors. From the entrance hall, a granite stair case leads to a grand, beautifully decorated dining room and reception area. Often referred to as the “meeting place”, the kitchen has been fully restored and is now the place where culinary masterpieces are created.

The well tended grounds invite to stroll. The illuminated tennis court and the indoor squash court please the active sportsman. Relaxation at the poolside, the whirlpool or sauna.

The guest rooms are all individually decorated. Floor heating, private terraces and in some rooms open fireplaces make your stay most comfortable. Satellite and cable television keep you entertained and in touch with the world. In the evening, one can enjoy a relaxing drink in the bar or with a game of pool in the games room.

Dinner and lunch are served on the main terrace or in the barbecue area.

Directions from Oporto:
Travel on the IP4 east towards Vila Real. From Vila Real go towards Sabrosa. From Sabrosa go towards Pinhao. As you reach the entrance of Pinhao you will see signs for Chanceleiros.
