“Fattoria La Selva”, located in the hills of the Trequanda District in Tuscany and ‘Fattoria Chiatina”, located in the nearby Buonconvento District, are both owned by Duccio Pometti. These two farms, within a few kilometers of each other and not far from Siena, span more that 815 hectares and were inherited by the actual owner through linear succession. Duccio and his wife Daniela  personally run the property, as well as producing their own organically-grown extra virgin olive oil and highest quality wines.

For many years Duccio grew durum wheat simply through lack of better opportunity; then in 1984  with the aid and encouragement of his life Daniela, he entrepreneurially opted to take a risk with the then fledging idea of “Agriturismo”, farm vacations were beginning to be popular and achieved brilliant success: the “Fattoria  La Selva” now boasts 12 apartments and a large luxury villa (Villa Boscarello), two pools and a considerable number of clients, many who have become stalwart and loyal friends over the years.

Fattoria La Selva, with its own olive groves and vineyards, is half an hour’s drive from the famous artistic and historic towns of Pienza, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Cortona and the celebrated abbeys of Monte Oliveto Maggiore and Sant’Antimo and it is within a stone’s throw of the famous wine regions producing Chianti Classico, Brunello and Vino Nobile. The Villa, with its own private swimming pool from which the views are particularly spectacular stretching the eye as far as Siena and Monte Amiata, offers relaxing and intimate stay in a luxuriously refine atmosphere.

Villa Boscarello is nestled  in the rolling hills  of the “crete senesi”,  the clay region  in the heart  of Tuscany, 34 km south of Siena,  a territory rich in history and incredibly beautiful landscapes that dates back to the 17th century. It was originally restored in 1802 and than again, restored and modernized to its final state, from 1995 to 2000. The Villa Boscarello has 8 elegantly furnished rooms, with either a double or two single beds, all with large, luxurious  bathroom facilities, including a shower or Jacuzzi, a telephone and a mini bar.

Next to the Villa is the smaller property “ Bellaria” a traditional brick building typical of the region, once used as a farm building, but now beautifully converted into a self contained apartment. The Villa can accommodate a maximum of 16 persons or, in conjunction with Bellaria, a maximum of 20 persons. The large living-rooms with their elegant ceilings and antique  family  furniture, offer a real   “old Tuscany” atmosphere.  There are two double bedrooms , each with its own bathroom facilities, both equipped with Jacuzzis, and a telephone. On the main floor of the Villa is a large dining room with a central fireplace , boasting its own wine cellar, in which you can enjoy wine tasting and typical Tuscan cooking, including products of the farm and the delectable white and black truffles of the region.

Dinners
At Villa Boscarello, we never offer the same meal twice!  Traditional dinners, pizzas and freshly made “ciaccino” (a regional bread made with different flavorings), just out of the oven, along with a variety of meats, ranging from chicken to Chianina steak and wild game, roasted by our Argentinean, Daniel, and Julio. For your eating pleasure, the Villa has a large, modern kitchen, a wood-burning oven and an outdoor movable grill. Our guests may chose to eat inside, either in the elegant dining room or in the large panoramic country-style great room, or outside, on one of the two patios.

Cooking class
At your request, we can organize cooking classes to learn how to prepare the deceivingly simple, traditional and tasty local recipes. The lessons are given by our chef, Adriana, and followed and translated into English by Carlotta, one of the daughters of the owner. Carlotta will explain the recipes step by step and our guests who will be involved in the actual preparation of a complete meal, from appetizers to dessert. The class finishes with a wonderful dinner, sampling the entire menu.

Wine tasting
For a more private and personal dining experience, Duccio, not only the owner, but also a sommelier and quality wine producer, will be at your side during the entire meal, explaining the cooking and suggesting three of his own wines (or different ones if requested) to accompany each course, making sure that each wine is served in the appropriate crystal glass. Good food, friendly talk, not only about wines, but also of family history and local color, make the evening enjoyable for everyone.

Strolling through the olive grove and vineyard with a final olive oil tasting, Duccio will be happy to accompany you on a stroll through his property, explaining the secrets and oddities of farming. Walking among the olive trees and vineyard rows, our guests will have the chance to discover the interesting characteristics of the plants, the soil and, of course, the wine and olive oil. We will finish with a traditional tasting of our extra (and extraordinary!) virgin olive oil – naturally organic.
