Cascina delle Rose is a small farm house built by an ancient farmer over 100 years ago, situated among the vines producing the generous Barbaresco wines, bringing up images from the past which belong to the heritage of every man.  The ancient farmer’s intuition and wisdom were his precious gifts to future generations. Walls made of solid stone, two wells for water, the stable, the hay loft, the wood shed, the wheat barn, a cool cellar and a yard protected from the wind.  Guest rooms with the most breathtaking, colorful scenery for meditation: the Rio Sordo valley with its small train station, the neat vineyards on the hillside. In the background a string of majestic castles from La Morra to Asti. On the horizon the Alps from the Monviso to the Monte Rosa.

Rooms were created in a simple, intimate and comfortable environments for guests. Warm colors, antique furniture, natural fabrics, the curtains from the owner’s (Giovanna) great-grandmother Nina’s dowry, family pictures, small objects telling our story, old embroideries, yet with a modern touch to be able to provide the needed comfort. That’s the way the guest rooms came about. Guests enter from the garden in a large living room with a library enriched by books and magazines describing the region. The kitchenette is waiting each morning with the aromas of a wonderful country breakfast where guests can serve themselves Going up the old stone staircase we find three lovely rooms painted with warm colors, furnished with taste and simplicity with old furniture and antique curtains. Each with its own bathroom with a large shower.

In December 1999 the second part of the dream took off.  An effort to give the house a feeling of greater intimacy and more independence…. a true home where guests could live as if on their own; the creation of ”romantic nests” as Giovanna imagined the needs of the lovers, of the families, of the young sportsmen to rekindle the flame often choked by habit and stress. With great joy and satisfaction, the stable, the hay-loft, the woodshed and the wheat barn became welcoming small apartments.

Giovanna also offers her guests advice on local tours of wineries, vineyards, castles and other aspects of the countryside that make the region so appealing to both locals and tourists alike.  Planning for tours and outings, visits to wineries, bookings for restaurants, wine and food tasting. Brochures and literature about the region. A possibility to partake in vineyard work.
