The Agriturismo Castelvecchio has all the characteristics that enable one to spend several days of complete relaxation in the green of Chianti. Castelvecchio is the perfect starting point for day trips into the nearby art cities of Florence and Siena. Castelvecchio is situated in the Municipality of San Casciano Val di Pesa, the area that produces Chianti Colli Fiorentini. In 1995 the winery began a renewal plan that now includes 16 hectares of new vineyards. 
  
Castelvecchio is situated on the top of a hill: part of the vineyard faces south and is cultivated with Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot grapes; the other part faces north and is cultivated with Black Canaiolo, and Chianti Malvasia grapes. All the agronomic operations are carried out strictly by hand. The treatment of the vineyard is appropriate and aims at guaranteeing the maximum respect of nature. 
 
Castelvecchio dates back to the 12th century, when the hill of San Pancrazio near San Casciano Val di Pesa, where the estate now stands, belonged to the Cavalcanti family. Today the estate is a family run Agricultural and Agritouristic Azienda that covers an expanse of approximately 80 hectares where vineyards and olive groves are maintained in keeping with an abiding respect for nature and by enlisting the collaboration of wine growing and production experts. The wines are the outcome of a meticulous process of vinification and are produced from selected vines. 
 
Our apartments are furnished in the rustic style typical of Tuscany, with walnut wardrobes, wrought iron beds, terracotta floors and exposed-beam ceilings. Exploring the Estate one comes to the Via Francigena, which leads to the ancient Romanesque Chapel of San Lorenzo. Behind the chapel, situated in a beautiful garden, is our swimming pool. Continuing along the road one is brought to the open countryside where a fully restored ancient farmhouse is surrounded by olive trees. The farmhouse has been divided into apartments where one may choose to pass several days in complete tranquility. Our wines, extra virgin olive oil and other products from the Estate of Castelvecchio can be tasted and are available for purchase in the nearby cellars.
