Located only 30 km from Avignon in the region of Gard, the Chateau de Montcaud in Sabran, Vallee de la Ceze, is a 4 star hotel restaurant between Orange and Uzes. Along with a state of the art fitness center, outdoor heated swimming pool and meeting rooms, theis Eco Hotel is surrounded by vineyards, and forests. Montcaud’s location is ideal for the discovery of Provence, Camargue, Luberon, Ardèche and the Cevennes hills. At the outskirts of Bagnols-sur-Cèze, Chateau de Montcaud lies at the crossroads of legendary cultural and historic sites (Pont-du Gard, Nîmes, Avignon and the Roman theatre in Orange where the annual Opera-Festival is also the highlight of Montcaud’s summer season.
The Chateau in its sober and elegant style of the Napoleon III period reflects simplicity with a note of luxury and attention to the smallest details of comfort. Apart from cultural events (Concerts, Jazz lunch, exhibitions, and packages including the Opera Festival in Orange), much attention is paid to natural and organic ingredients in the meals from the breakfast buffet in the Chateau to the exquisite dinner in the four-star restaurant. In 1992 Chateau de Montcaud regained its beauty and splendor when Rudy W. Baur decided to buy the uninhabited 19th century property within its beautiful park. Today, Rudy and Anne Baur manage Chateau de Montcaud as a family enterprise with a special personal welcome.
After a restful night in the calm countryside, a rich and healthy breakfast buffet with an organic accent is awaiting, weather permitting, served on the terrace and on the lawn near the decorative pond in front of the Chateau. Tastefully decorated and some newly furnished rooms within the style of the Chateau. All rooms overlooking the private park with its lawn and ancient trees. Twenty-four rooms, of which 6 are large Junior Suites of 550 sq ft each and 2 Duplex apartments of 1000 sq ft each that include a Jacuzzi on the top floor of the Chateau.
Dinner is served either in the restaurant around a central fireplace, in one of the 2 adjacent private dining rooms or, weather permitting on the romantic starlit outdoor Patio, with it its thousand glittering and colourful lights leading to the herb garden and the surrounding vineyards. A seasonal menu offers delicious dishes of fish, seafood, lamb and rabbit, as well as a selection of local cheeses and a variety of desserts.
The wine list offers a selection of Côtes-du-Rhône, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Languedoc wines as well as a representative choice of all of France. A Bistrot-Luncheon is served from Monday to Friday. All summer, we serve a Sunday Jazz-Lunch with 7 Jazz musicians and featuring a buffet with New Orleans specialties.
