The Guy Family owns this domaine since 1868. The vines are located on hillsides at 140 meters and grow in a sandy gravel type soil, lying on a very rate fossilized coral isalnd, former atoll of the Helvetien Sea; this old rock drains the soil wonderfully. Having dedicated his life to improving the quality of his wines, Francois Guy is now regarded as one of the leading figures in the history of wine in Languedoc.

It is in respect of this tradition and with a constant concern for quality that his daughter Florence deals with the property since 1990.

The Chateau Coujan offers red vintage wines, recent or old; a rose wine with genuine red fruit and scrubland notes, but also white wines that do leave you indefferent. They offer tours and tastings and have several rental “gites” available within the vineyard. Francois is a marvelous guide and story teller and worth the trip in itself just to meet him.
