Created in 1949, the cellar of Razès brings together 402 wine growers who manage more than 3300 ha of vines. The Cellar represents the wines of these growers as per a traditional cooperative. With modern equipment and technology, this “Winery” allows winemakers to get the most of the soil, grapes and their own creativity.

The communes are located in a triangle delimited by Montreal, Fanjeaux and Lauraguel, near Carcassonne and Limoux. The landscape is soft and undulating. The villages are based in the hills of the buttresses of the solid mass of the malepère, with the Pyrenees behind.  The ground is mainly argilo-limestone and the Mediterranean climate is dominated by the Atlantic Oceanic influence.

Appellation: Coasts of Malepère AOVDQS, located at the extreme west of Languedoc in a Carcassonne-Limoux-Castelnaudary triangle. This name is famous for its harmonious and fine wine.  The name imposes that at least 50% of all wines are made up of Merlot and 20% of Cabernet Franc. The other authorized type of vines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Cot (also called Malbec), Grenache and Cinsault. The Cellar also produces wines of cepages (Local wines of Oc), Local wine of the Coasts of prouilhe, Local wines Cathare and Local wines of the Aude.

Vineyard: Under the impulse of the agronomic research undertaken in our experimental field (Field of Cazes with Alaigne), 85% of the vineyards were renewed during the past 25 last years, consisting of forty varieties cultivated, of which a majority of oceanic type of vines (Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cot), Mediterranean type of vines (Grenache, Cinsault, Carignan), mongrel type of vines (Portan, Marselan, Chasan blanc). The white type of vines cover 10% of surfaces, mainly with Chardonnay.

Come visit and taste some spectacular wines.
