Sue Boxell is tour director and founder of “Burgundy On A Plate”, her wine and gastronomy tour company now in its third year. With a background in the hospitality industry, she worked as both chef and manager on floating hotels on the waterways of Burgundy. Here she developed a real passion for the region, its wine, food and culture with  a particular interest in gastronomy and food history. In 2005 she set up her own wine and gastronomy tour business. Burgundy On A Plate is the result! 

Burgundy on a Plate offers personalized wine and gastronomy discovery tours in the Heart of France, in the delightful region of Burgundy. Enjoy private guided vineyard tours and tastings, discovering great family owned vineyards and chateaux, visiting and tasting in their historic cellars. You will be driving through Burgundy’s back-roads and wine landscape, seeing the Burgundy of the locals and enjoying typically regional food in local wine villages. All in all, unique tours with a difference!

If you are looking for a one or two day wine tour during your visit to Burgundy, look no further than Burgundy on a Plate!  We can offer a selection of excellent private wine tasting tours which include a delicious three course regional lunch. All tours are conducted in English with a bilingual driver wine guide. You will be collected from your hotel in the morning in our air-conditioned comfortable vehicle and at the end of the day, dropped back to your hotel or to the station, allowing you to enjoy your wine tasting experiences without the worry of driving. Our tours will show you a slice of real Burgundy life and provide you with a good overview of the Burgundy wine region in a fun and informative way.

We can take up to six people, but if you require a private tour, please contact us to arrange it.  All tours begin at 9am and finish about 5pm – our main departure point is in or near Beaune.

Tour A – Vineyards of Côte & Hautes Côtes de Beaune
Private tasting in Meursault in a small family owned cellar. Leisurely three course tasting lunch in Puligny Montrachet, tasting up to 14 different wines, with a visit to the cellars & vineyards. Drive up into the Hautes Côtes de Beaune with its stunning vineyard views(St Aubin, St Romain, Monthelie, Volnay etc) Final wine tasting in Auxey Duresses with artisanal wine grower.

Tour B – Vineyards of Côte & Hautes Côtes de Nuits
Private tastings in three different domains in Côte de Nuits wine villages. Delicious 3 course typically Burgundian lunch with glass of wine. Leisurely drive through the famous vineyards of Côtes de Nuits, Nuits St Georges,Vosne Romanee, Chambolle Musigny, Gevrey Chambertin etc. Visit and stroll around the site of the legendary Romanée Conti vineyards.

Tour C – Wine & Vine Workshops in Puligny Montrachet
Learn to appreciate colours, aromas and flavours with an introduction to the techniques of wine tasting through a range of excercises and games. Visit to the cellar & vineyards with 3 course tasting lunch. Drive through renowned villages & vineyards of Côte de Beaune. Final tasting of the red wines of Côte de Beaune.

Tour D – Cheese and Wine in Côte de Beaune
Cellar Visit & tasting with a Côte de Beaune wine grower. Visit to a farm close to Beaune to taste some excellent cheeses from cow’s milk, with a glass of wine from Meursault. Three course regional lunch with a glass of wine in a superb restaurant in Volnay. Second cellar visit and tasting in Northern Cote de Beaune. Visit to a goats’ cheese farm, sampling cheese & wine, meeting the goats and admiring some of the best views in Burgundy

Tour E – Cheese and Wine in Côte de Nuits
Two private wine tastings & cellar visits in renowned villages of the Côte de Nuits. Delicious typically Burgundian 3 course lunch and glass of wine. Visit to a goats’ cheese farm in Hautes Côtes de Nuits learning each stage of artisanal cheese making & sampling excellent cheese with our hosts in their 300 year old farmhouse .Scenic drive through vineyards & villages of Nuits St Georges, Gevrey Chambertin, Vosne Romanée, Chambolles Musigny etc

Tour F – Côte de Nuits and Cooking
Two private wine tastings & cellar visits in renowned villages of the Côte de Nuits. Delicious typically Burgundian 3 course lunch with a glass of wine as fresh hams are baking over the fire. Fun & informal interactive cooking class with our chef in his restaurant in Beaune (Return for dinner in the evening at the restaurant (optional extra).

Tour G – Côte de Beaune and Cours de Cuisine
Two private wine tastings & cellar visits in renowned villages of the Côte de Beaune. Delicious typically Burgundian three course lunch with a glass of wine in superb restaurant in Volnay. Fun & informal interactive cooking class with our chef in his restaurant in Beaune. Return for dinner in the evening at the restaurant (optional extra).
