On the right bank of the Marne River at the edge of the forrest of Hautvillers, lies the town of Cumières. Cumières is an obligatory stop on the road through the Chamagne wine region, which has gained critical acclaim for the high quality of its wines since the 14th century. In addition to all of this history is a fantastic restaurant- “Le Caveau”, which combines a wonderful decor with the charm and magesty of Jean-Cladue Rambach’s cuisine.

The name of the restaurant is not misleading, as “Le Caveau” is constructed completely of hewn limestone. The floor opens into a decor that is reminiscent of a museum with manequins dressed in the traditional costumes of local wine growers and ancient tools from the vineyards and wine cellars adorning the walls.

The menu consists of light cuisine with specialties from the Champagne region complemented by local wines from Cumières. The atmosphere at Le Caveau is relaxed and the food delicious. Guests feel at home as if they are at their own local pub. On Sundays the restaurant offers a Sunday lunch that is quite popular with locals, so come early or make a reservation.
