One of only two Michelin starred restaurants in Sicily (the other is Ristorante Duomo), La Madia is located in Licata (agrigento) and was voted best Restaurant in Sicily 2008 by Cronache di Gusto. Chef Pino Cuttaia, named one of the top 20 chefs in Italy by Gambero Rosso in 2008 and “Young restaurateur of the year in 2004 by Espresso Magazine. Chef Cuttaia’s passion for cooking and his life story are the stuff of legend having begun his career as an apprentice baker before becoming a pastry chef and then a butcher. After intense training in Piedmont under the tutelage of several quality chefs, he returned to his hometown in Sicily to open his own restaurant, La Madia.

Chef Cuttaia focuses on local produce, seafood and meats and exacts flavors from them that enhance and surprise the palet. His cuisine is simple, built on a foundation of traditional Sicilian recipes and a quest for high standards and creativity.
