We offer simple elegance, an informal atmosphere, light airy rooms and the chance to completely unwind – all in an area of outstanding natural beauty, where the food and the wine are amongst the best in the world. La Villa is a 17th Century palazzo, which sits high on a hill amongst the beautiful rolling Monferrato countryside, surrounded by vineyards. It has superb views in every direction, framed by the Alps over 100 kilometres away.

Originally a local nobleman’s house, La Villa has undergone more than two years of serious renovation to bring back to life the building with its many features typical of the area. The result is a chic country hideaway that, since opening in August 2005, has earned a reputation as the best place to stay in the region.

There are landscaped gardens with a superb swimming pool, a large covered pergola – to enjoy breakfast or lunch outside, sun terraces, a courtyard with views along the valley and a covered BBQ and outside bar area. Indoors we offer a relaxing lounge bar, wine tasting room and a small gym – and, of course, the restaurant.
The hotel is independent and family run, allowing us to create a casual, laid back atmosphere where guests can relax, enjoy themselves and feel at home.

Our knowledge of the area, its food and wine, means our guests often leave it to us to help them get the best out of their stay.

To see some of the comments from our guests, please go to Trip Advisor.com, where we have been ranked as high as the third best hotel in Italy. In 2007, we were also awarded the the Traveler’s Award Top 10 ‘Hotel Gems’ in Europe, 2006.
The hotel now has 14 Rooms with suites, executive double, double and single rooms, all with antique and period furniture purchased in the local area.

Our restaurant, La Vie, opens each year around the end of April and closes for the winter in mid-November. The restaurant re-opened this year at the end of April. We serve light lunches in the open courtyard and simple evening meals made from the freshest ingredients. We also try and have a BBQ or outdoor buffet at least once a week.
We also offer Cooking Courses, a Cooking, Eating and Wine Experience Programme in November and Truffle Extravaganzas throughout October and November
La Villa is set in the Piedmont region, home of many of Italy’s (and the world’s) finest wines including Barolo, Barbaresco, Barbera and Moscato. Wine tours can begin from within 5 minutes of the hotel, where you can also enjoy one of Italy’s most renowned grappa manufacturers – Berta.

La Vie Restaurant was opened in response to the overwhelming demand from our guests, to be able to eat at the hotel…However, as we said before ‘living in an area with so many great value, gourmet Piemontese restaurants we thought we would be crazy to go into the food business’. We have no intention to compete with these wonderful restaurants and chefs that abound in this area. Rather, we want to give our guests a simple but high quality alternative to the traditional cuisine of Piedmont. We offer lighter meals, using the freshest ingredients bought daily from the market – but always in an Italian style.

Cooking Courses
White truffles and mushrooms, risotto, amazing cheeses including gorgonzola (still a bone of contention with neighbouring Lombardia!), robiola and many others, the freshest of fresh food from the daily markets, piemontese beef, fresh seafood – all washed down with the wines of Barbera, Barolo, Barbaresco or Gavi and a Grappa to finish!

As befits a restaurant in the home of the Slow Food movement, we take food, wine and the presentation of the food very seriously. But!! Unhurried, relaxed and informal enjoyment of the food and wine is still the key. Drinking in the scenery as the sun sets over the hills, while enjoying great food and a bottle of great local wine is a must. We offer a number of cooking courses during the year. We are delighted to host Joanne Weir’s Culinary Adventures – see her Web Site for details of her programmes. She will next be with us in October 2009. in the area.

Five Day Cooking, Eating and Wine Appreciation Experience
