Established by a Douro family of land-owning wine producers, in 1751, Ferreira has played a prominent role in the history of Porto wine. Ferreira owes much to the contribution of Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira, a legendary figure in the history of Port wine. Created with passion and art, for more than 250 years, Ferreira is a recognised symbol of the utmost quality, the Portuguese heart and soul and the leading Porto Wine brand in Portugal. If you visit Porto, take some time to discover one of the most prestigious and ancient Porto Wine Brands in the country, and learn about Portugal through the history of its most important wine. Ferreira, taste of tradition.

The warehouse where the visit begins, with its entrance in the Riverside Avenue, was acquired in 1876. In the reception room decorated with the celebrated painting of Dona Antónia, the visitors may enjoy a description of the characteristics of the Douro region, with a relief map referring to the location of our Vineyards and Wineries. As visitors pass through the lodges with their calm atmosphere of soft light and cool temperature, the various operations and processes that contribute to the production of Port Wine are shown in their slow and precious ageing methods.

Visitors also have the chance to explore a small museum of coopers’ utensils, as barrel making was an essential art for the ageing of Port Wine, which in the past involved dozens of workers. At the end, our visitors are invited to taste a Ferreira Port Wine.
