The historical Restaurant “Al Cristo” proposes an international touch to the finest Gourmets from sushi to baccalà, from the spices of the East to the finest wines in Verona, the restaurant “Al Cristo” is able to surprise and please the most imaginative and diversified culinary clientele. For those unsure or possibly intimidated by the various flavors of the unknown, we opened a bar next door called “Pintxos Bistrot”, which will provide diners with small tasting plates to help ease you into the world of the Orient.
Owner Luca Famiglietti, born in Verona in 1968, got his inspiration of combining Veronese specialties with Asian flavors via his experiences living and opening a restaurant in Vietnam.
“Al Cristo” offers a high-level gourmet cuisine, concentrating specifically on carefully selecting our prime ingredients, which we meticulously describe to our clientele, informing them of origin and history: Using aquariums for the lobsters, crayfish and oysters of course guarantees constant freshness, and we carefully choose our meats from local purveyors, such as veal from Le Langhe in Piedmont. We also have several varieties of caviar, actually filling a full page of the menu. We experiment in matching different spices with international ingredients as well as serving sushi, using strictly Japanese ingredients.
In 2006, 2007 and 2008, the restaurant has been awarded the Wine Spectator “Best Award of Excellence”. In Italy, only 8 other restaurants have received this level of acclaim. We are particularly proud of our Krug list, which is unique in Italy for the rarity of its items. There is a special Krug table in the wine-cellar dining room. We serve our wines exclusively in Riedel glasses, which have special meaning for us, i.e. we believe that every single aspect means a great deal.
