La Caravella is located behind the La Fenice Theatre, on Via XXII Marzo, one of the widest streets in Venice connecting some of the major tourist attractions in the city and is within easy reach of some of the most famous hotels in Venice: Hotel Saturnia, at the same address (same ownership as the restaurant), Hotel Bauer, Hotel Gritti, Hotel Europa & Regina, just to mention a few.

Restaurant La Caravella, one of the most celebrated Venician restaurants, opened in the early sixties, when it took over from Ciro’s bar, at the time a very famous venue (it was even mentioned by Simone de Beauvoir in her books). The restaurant was well-known then, as it is today, for for its superb cuisine and excellent service, but also for the unique nautical style of its décor, designed by Luigi Orefice to recreate the interior of an ancient sailing ship. In summer the Caravella restaurant moves outdoors to the flower-filled Venetian inner courtyard.

The menu features typical dishes but also the more inventive and innovative fare of creative cuisine, using fresh seasonal ingredients. The uncompromising  quality of the fish and meat dishes is guaranteed by an attentive choice of purveyors, whose produce is in full compliance with the most recent regulations on food product traceability.

Every year, our Sommeliers, together with the owners, select the best wines. Over the years, La Caravella has selected for its clientele the top crus along with the best Champagnes and French wines. Today, the breakthroughs of Italian wine-making and the general rise in quality have brought to the forefront great appreciation of our historical wine producers like Antinori , Marchesi Incisa della Rocchetta, Avignonesi, Gaja, as well as smaller vintners who have made wine-making their “raison d’être”.
