Located between Alcamo and Camporeale, in the heart of the Alcamo D.O.C. hills, is the Tarantola Farmhouse of the Testa Counts, surrounded by the green of its vineyards producing the Gorgo del Drago Inzolia-Chardonnay wines, and the new line of products of the Testa Counts, including a Cabernet-Syrah blend. In addition to the vineyards, the farm grows a variety of vegetables, olives that are pressed for a wonderful oil, wheat, and yellow and green melons, all of which are outstanding.

The farmhouse ‘Azienda Agricola Tarantola dei Conti Testa’, also known as ‘Masseria Merlo’, dates back to the 19th century. Located in the middle of Alcamo D.O.C, it is renowned not only for the natural fertility of its lands, but also for a mineral spring that, wisely channeled in very ancient pipes, runs through part of the vineyards to flow in a marvelous, hand-sculptured drinking trough made of stone of 1889.

Ten guest-beds are divided in three apartments provided with all comforts. The small country restaurant can host 65 guests and offers huge external areas with incredible panaramas. Elegant, refined and, most important, far from the town’s chaos; it is a pearl in the middle of the Alcamo D.O.C. hills. There are two groups of buildings: in the first, a completely renovated building that houses the restaurant and guest-houses; in the second there is the wine cellar, the ancient bakery, and a few other apartments.

You can choose among full-board, half board or only an overnight stay in the farm. The restaurant provides a cuisine linked to local traditions and flavors, well known for its freshness derived from local produce.  All vegetables are harvested on site!  Guests, should they desire, can roam the gardens to collect the vegetables they want to eat.

The air-conditioned main dining room, with a big fire place, can host 65 people. There’s also an outdoor porch  and big terrace for an unforgettable dinner under the stars. Besides the fixed-price menu of the day, there is a menu capable of satisfying the most different needs including several vegetarian options.

As for the vineyards, during the last four years, several international grape varieties have been planted to complement the indigenous grapes. Cabernet, Syrah and Chardonnay grapes now grow alongside the local Nero D’Avola, Inzolia, Catarratto, Damaschino and Grillo grapes.
