In the heart of the Asti region, in one of the areas best suited to wine-growing thanks to soil and micro-climate, immersed in the green of its own vines stands the azienda agricola “Carlo e Giovanni Pavia”. For many generations the Pavia winery has been producing wines using selected grapes. All the phases of wine production – from the squeezing and vinification stage to the bottling and ageing process – are carried out in their cellars using an artisan system in respect of the best traditions of the Monferrato area. Numerous acknowledgements at wine competitions confirm the reliability and highly professional attitude of the Pavia family and reward the dedication and passion for their work.

The Fratelli Pavia (Pavia Brothers) have a long family tradition in wine making. At the end of the 1800s, grandpa Michele and his brothers were already growing grapes at Agliano, in the heart of the Monferrato wine zone from where some of the best Piedmontese red wines, particularly the Barbera, are grown. At that time, clients from various parts of Piedmont and Lombardy would ride to the Cascina Pavia (Pavia Farm) to purchase wine by the barrel. With the arrival of Michele’s sons, Carlo and Giovanni, the estate expanded production, by purchasing new vineyards and building a new cellar.

From the beginning, the Pavia brothers focused on the quality of their wines rather than the quantity, and their wines have won many competitions and gained faithful clients in Italy and overseas. Now the third generation of Pavia have arrived. Sons Cesare and Michele have become part of the family team emulating the passion and business philosophy of their fathers, and immersing themselves in this challenging, yet very gratifying profession.

“The size of our estate is the result of our choice to keep the whole production cycle, from grape growing, to winemaking and bottling under control under control,” said Cesare and Michele. “In addition, we are able to take care of our clients first hand.”
