Located in the heart of California’s Central Coast, Laetitia Vineyard & Winery was established to create and promote a singular portfolio of Burgundian-style and méthode champenoise sparkling wines that reflect the terroir of the Arroyo Grande appellation and the typicity of each of our varietals. Our wines transcend Old World and New World techniques, recognizing and utilizing the virtues of both. Laetitia Vineyard & Winery has long been known for its warm hospitality and generous community spirit. Located just off Highway 101 near the quaint village of Arroyo Grande, Laetitia offers wine tasting of Barnwood and Laetitia wines at a beautiful hilltop visitor center that features commanding views of the vineyards, the Arroyo Grande Valley, and the Pacific Ocean. Visitors are invited to use the scenic picnic area.
Laetitia Vineyard & Winery has a prestigious heritage, rich in French tradition that is still evident in the style and grace of the wines today. In 1982, French viticulturists from the esteemed champagne house, Champagne Deutz searched California for a suitable site to begin growing and producing Méthode Champenoise sparkling wines in America. They likened the soils and climate of the Arroyo Grande Valley to those found in their native Epernay, France and thus Maison Deutz was born. About 185 acres were planted to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Blanc and for more than 13 years, Maison Deutz enjoyed an excellent reputation for outstanding Methode Champenoise sparkling wines.
Combining traditional French techniques with American innovation, our winemakers strive to showcase the unique expression of Laetitia’s estate grapes through meticulous winemaking. Dedicated to the production of our Burgundian varietals, winemaker Eric Hickey has been with the winery since 1990. His responsibilities cover all aspects of still wine production and vineyard operations. His father, Dave Hickey began his career at the winery in 1985. Today, he carries on our French tradition by producing Methode Champenoise Sparkling Wines.
