The historic St George Hotel is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The hotel is a center piece in the quaint village of Volcano, California, the gem of the Motherlode.
The main structure has 12 guestrooms on two floors, with shared bathrooms. The slight slant in the floors add to the character of the beautiful old building. The main floor of the Hotel has three sections. The charming Parlor, with 10-foot ceilings and a grand fireplace; The dining room, home to some of the finest food in the County; The Whiskey Flat Saloon was added to the main structure in the 1930’s. It is a fun and unique place to have a drink and meet the locals. The Saloon’s historical flavor and ambiance is friendly, funky and comfortable and listed as, “One of the Top 10 Bars in the world worth flying to” (as featured in GQ Magazine).
Another structure built in the 1960’s, set in it’s own ”Butterfly” garden is a private one story building and offers six rooms with private bathrooms. The conference center was added in 1999 and offers a perfect setting for meetings, gatherings or conferences. Finally, the luxurious Garden Cottage was added in 2003. It is a private, secluded and romantic room for a special occasion or personal indulgence. The extra amenities are a private deck, inviting fireplace, tv/dvd player and a double jacuzzi tub.
The St. George Hotel restaurant has been voted the #1 Restaurant in Amador County for Best Fine Dining and Best Place to take a Date several times in a row.
The Dining room has a warm, country elegance. The menu features locally grown produce and herbs from the St. George garden.
