It’s only taken us 20 years to get the approval to ride “IN” the vineyards, but we’ve finally got it…come join us for a wonderful day of riding “in” the vineyards!  It’s a relaxing ride that occurs primarily on dirt paths and roads giving you an opportunity to see the vines up close, get away from the hussle-bussle, and soak in the California sun and panoramic views!   This tour is designed for the tourist, not the cyclist, but you will exert a bit more activity than our other tours!

Sample Day:

(Note: Thanks to Bouchaine Vineyards, we are pleased to finally offer this tour.  Bouchaine Vineyards is being used in this sample day to help you get a better idea of what our “Cycling in the Vineyards” tours are all about.  The actual vineyards and wineries that you will be cycling and experiencing may be different.)

We will get started at 9:30 a.m. You will be fitted to a complementary mountain bike and helmet (By the way, we’re not your typical bicycle rental and touring company…we recycle our bicycles every year offering you the latest model bicycles from well-known bicycle manufacturers like Specialized and Trek).  After an introduction to bicycle safety and orientation, we’ll load up and van to Bouchaine Vineyards in the beautiful Carneros Region (southern Napa and Sonoma).

Once we arrive at our destination vineyard, we will unload the bikes and begin this fabulous guided tour “IN” the vineyards.  Most of the terrain you bike will be gentle slopes; however, there might be a hill or two that you may choose to walk!  We will also make a loop through the wildlife preserve that borders these vineyards and extends to the northern boundary of the San Francisco/San Pablo Bay.  Egrets, blue herons, mallards, cormorants, and hawks are common sightings along with wetland and coastal flora.

We will ride back into the vineyards and stop on top of a hill which we call “inspiration point”.  This point offers a breath-taking, 360-degree view of the vineyards, wildlife preserve, 5 mountain ranges, Sonoma Valley, Napa Valley, the Bay, and San Francisco on a clear day.  Lunch back at the winery will consist of fresh fruit and cheese, salads, and local deli sandwiches.  During lunch, you will will have a chance to taste exceptional wines produced from the grapes grown in the vineyards you have cycled through today.

Afterward, we’ll pedal paved country roads to Mckenzie-Mueller Vineyards, Ceja Vineyards, Acacia Winery, or Domaine Carneros to sample their fine wines.  Don’t worry about your purchases; our van support is right there and ready to transport your wine and you back to our shop after your tasting appointment.
We’ll be back to our shop around 4:00pm. Our guides will do everything in their power to ensure you have a memorable day. Again, the focus of the day is a Wine Country experience that engages all your senses: some moderate, but comfortable activity complete with beautiful scenery, fresh air, birds, and of course, great wine!

Time: 9:30am to approximately 4:00pm

Terrain: gentle sloping terrain, but there might be a hill or two that you may choose to walk.
